PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which offers a wide view angle and a sufficient zoom ratio but can also be easily made compact, and to provide an image capturing device having the same.SOLUTION: A zoom lens comprises, in order from the object side to the image side, a first lens group G1 having positive refractive power, a second lens group G2 having negative refractive power, a third lens group G3 having positive refractive power, a fourth lens group G4 having negative refractive power, a fifth lens group G5 having positive refractive power, and an aperture stop S located between the second lens group and the fourth lens group. When zooming from the wide angle end to the telephoto end, distance between each pair of adjacent lens groups varies, where distance between the first lens group and the second lens group is wider at the telephoto end than at the wide angle end, and distance between the second lens group and the third lens group is narrower at the telephoto end than at the wide angle end, while distance between the fourth lens group and the fifth lens group is wider at the telephoto end than at the wide angle end. The zoom lens satisfies the following conditional expression: 3.5≤LTL/IH≤8.9, where LTLrepresents a total lens length at the wide angle end of the zoom lens and IHrepresents a maximum image height at the telephoto end of the zoom lens. |
