PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight neutron absorber with good thermal conduction, which can prevent direct contact between aluminum as a neutron absorber constituted of boron compound dispersed aluminum-based composite material and a fuel cladding tube composed of zirconium alloy, and which can prevent corrosion of the fuel cladding tube due to contact of the fuel cladding tube and aluminum, and to provide a manufacturing method of the neutron absorber.SOLUTION: The neutron absorber used for a nuclear fuel storage container, a storage rack, a transport container, a nuclear fuel pool and the like comprises: a core plate which includes a boron compound dispersed aluminum-based composite material layer obtained by dispersing boron compound particles in aluminum matrix, and aluminum skin layers formed on both surfaces of the aluminum-based composite material layer; and a stainless steel cladding layer formed on at least one surface of the core plate. The manufacturing method includes the steps of: preparing the core plate composed of the boron compound dispersed aluminum-based composite material layer obtained by dispersing the boron compound particles in the aluminum matrix and the aluminum skin layers formed on both surfaces of the aluminum-based composite material layer; and clad-rolling a stainless steel plate onto at least one surface of the core plate. |
