<p>The invention relates to a device for the pre-stripping of metal strips (1) deposited on cathodes (2) during processes of electrolysis of zinc or lead, allowing the pre-stripping on any point of the upper edge of a plate of the cathode (2), characterised in that it comprises a a frame-type structure (3); a horizontal structure (4) fixed to a support structure and comprising at least one system (5) for guiding the frame-type structure (3) on the ends thereof; at least one device for the vertical movement (6) of the frame-type structure (3) in relation to the horizontal structure (4); a horizontal guiding system (7) secured to the frame-type structure (3) in the lower part thereof; and cutting means (8) that can be moved along the horizontal guiding system (7) and comprise two hinged arms (9) with an actuating device (10), cutting elements (11) being provided on the free ends of said arms.
