PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint support device capable of protecting a wearer from serious injury in which proprioceptive members are placed in anatomical locations that maximize the body's ability to resist an unwanted motion.SOLUTION: A support device for an ankle 10 includes a main body 100 having a medial portion 103 and a lateral portion 105 disposed about the ankle, and an interior surface 108 ; at least one of a medial support member disposed in a cavity in the medial portion 103 of the main body and a lateral support member disposed in a cavity in the lateral portion 105 of the main body; a strap 300 disposed on a proximal portion 101 of the main body 100 and having fastening means adapted to create a first level of pressure in the front of the lower leg immediately proximal to the ankle and a second level of pressure in the rear of the lower leg immediately proximal to the ankle; and one or more proprioceptive members 400 disposed on the interior surface 108 of the main body 100.
