A method and system (10) for digitally scoring (22) a substrate (14) prior to completing a carton blank (12) is disclosed. After digitally printing (16) a substrate(i4), it is processed through a series of scoring wheels, male (102c) on top, female (i02d) wheel on bottom. The scoring wheels (102c, i02d) (and transfer belts which help move the substrate (14) through the wheels 102c, i02d) are controlled from the same computer file used to create the graphic image. Subsequent to the first scoring sequence, the substrate (14) is turned 90 degrees and a second scoring sequence takes place. After the scoring sequences have been performed, the substrate (14) continues to the laser die cutter where the same computer or digital file determines where to physically cut (28) the sheet (26) into a carton blank (12). |
