PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an optical element capable of reducing breakage and cracking of glass in press forming and thereby improving the productivity of optical elements and a method of producing optical instruments.SOLUTION: A method of producing an optical element comprises press-forming, with a forming die, a glass material having a maximum value (α) of the linear expansion coefficient in the temperature range between the glass transition point (Tg) and the yield point (At) of 1500×10Kor smaller in a heat-softened state. A method of producing an optical instrument comprises fabricating an optical instrument by using an optical element produced by the method of producing optical element. |
