The present invention relates to a method for assisting energy-efficient driving, for a motor vehicle, said method comprising the following steps: estimating the loaded weight (Mloaded) of said vehicle (100); determining the instantaneous speed (Vi) of said vehicle (200); estimating the angle (α) of the slope that the portion of the wheel on which said vehicle is located makes with the horizontal (300); estimation of the potential travel distances (DR) that can be travelled by said vehicle by itself, depending on the gearbox ratio (R) engaged by said driver (500), said estimation being carried out on the basis of said loaded weight (Mloaded), of said instantaneous speed (Vi) and of said angle (α) of the slope; and transmitting all of the values of said estimated distances (DR) to a display module (30) (800) for the integration thereof in a visual message for energy-efficient driving assistance.
