A method and an apparatus for processing an image of an image display device are provided to select and conceal an unnecessary image while watching the image, thereby improving watching environments and selecting only a desired image among image signals transmitted from a broadcasting station. An image processing apparatus determines whether a user selects an editing mode(S101). When the user selects the editing mode, the image processing apparatus determines whether an editing area is selected(S102). When the editing area is selected, the image processing apparatus determines whether a frame of the selected area is an I frame(S103). When the frame of the selected area is the I frame, the image processing apparatus performs the first image concealment(S104). When the frame of the selected area is not the I frame, the image processing apparatus performs the second image concealment because the frame of the selected area is B or P frame(S105). The image processing apparatus image-processes an image signal performing image concealment and displays the image signal(S106). |
