<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation device and an optical transmitter which have superior mounting properties for an optical modulator.SOLUTION: A driver 2 is mounted on a printed wiring board 5 in a state in which a signal electrode pad and a ground electrode pad on the reverse surface of the driver 2 are exposed in an opening part 34 of the printed wiring board 5. An optical modulator 3 is mounted on the printed wiring board 5 opposite the driver 2 across the opening part 34 of the printed circuit board 5. A flexible printed circuit board 4 is arranged in the opening part 34 of the printed circuit board 5. One end of a signal line 45 extending from signal terminals 26, 42 of the flexible circuit board 4 is electrically connected to a signal electrode in the optical modulator 3, and one end of a ground terminal of the flexible circuit board 4 is electrically connected to a ground electrode in the optical modulator 3. The other ends of the signal terminals 26, 42 of the flexible circuit board 4 are soldered to the signal electrode pad on the reverse surface of the driver 2, and the other end of the ground terminal of the flexible circuit board 4 is soldered to the ground electrode pad on the reverse surface of the driver 2.</p> |
