907,912. Tube walls for furnaces. BABCOCK & WILCOX CO. May 15, 1959 [May 15, 1958], No. 16837/59. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XXII] The tubes 20 of a wall panel are welded to a plate 10 formed with grooves 15 into which the tubes fit. The minimum thickness of the plate is half its maximum thickness, and the side remote from the tubes is flat. In a modification, Fig. 3, the tubes 20 are located in the troughs of a corrugated plate 40. The tubes are connected to the plate by fusion welds, which may extend across the bridging members connecting the troughs of a corrugated plate, Fig. 4. The tubes are pressed against their locating grooves or troughs, and the welds at either side of a tube formed simultaneously by a submerged arc process. Specification 907,911 is referred to. |
