PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for a color filter having excellent spectral characteristics, dispersion property and weather resistance of a pigment component, and a color filter with a wide color reproduction range, having excellent heat resistance, light resistance and solvent resistance. SOLUTION: The coloring composition for the color filter contains transparent resin, a pigment carrier made of a precursor of the transparent resin or a mixture thereof, and a metal lake pigment of a rhodamine dye. In the coloring composition for a color filter a precipitant used for making the metal lake pigment include lake nature is a complex acid containing a phosphor (P). The color filter comprises red, green and blue filter segments or magenta, cyan and yellow filter segments, wherein the red filter segment or the magenta filter segment is formed with the coloring composition for a color filter.
