PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier membrane for a solid polymer fuel cell consisting of an anion-exchange membrane which preserves high gas impermeability not only in wet state during operation of a cell but also in dry state when the operation stops, has no risk of causing rupture of the membrane, and exhibits excellent gas impermeability again when operation is resumed.SOLUTION: The barrier membrane for a solid polymer fuel cell consists of an anion-exchange membrane where pores in a polyolefin porous substrate, preferably having a porosity of 40-60%, is filled with an anion-exchange resin consisting of a crosslinking hydrocarbon chain having a repeating unit consisting of a specific halogenoalkyl styrene compound with one end of the hydrocarbon chain being graft bonded to the surface of a pore. |
