The device (1) has spring elements (8) that are secured on a common spring support (14) and act on sealing heads (5). The sealing heads in a rest position are forced with pretension by spring elements in sealing stroke direction against a stop. The common spring support is traveled with a sealing stroke in the sealing stroke direction to specific extent, such that the sealing heads are lifted off the stops against the pretension during impacting of sealing heads on the container receptacles (4) and during interposition of the container bowls and the heat sealing film. An independent claim is included for a method for sealing container bowls with sealing film.
