910,998. Boring-heads. DE VLIEG MACHINE CO. Sept. 19, 1960 [Sept. 21, 1959], No. 32097/60. Class 83 (3). An adjustable boring head comprises a slide 16 supported in a transverse opening in a rotary body 11 for angular adjustment about an axis and for rectilinear adjustment along the axis, the slide having a pair of wall portions 30 parallel to the axis and means for supporting a tool 18, and a pair of adjustable members 33 on the body individually adjustable to-and-from the walls for fixing the angular position of the slide while permitting the rectilinear adjustment. The body is carried on a threaded shank 14. The slide 16 is adjusted by a screw 24 against a scale 23. The slight angular adjustment for ensuring accurate positioning of the tool is obtained by screwing-in one of the conicallyended plugs 33 and withdrawing the other. The plugs may also be used to take up wear. |
