The present invention relates to an alarm setting method for a portable terminal which is as follows: an application with an automatic vibration mode alarm function is installed; a time for executing the automatic vibration mode alarm function in alarm situations corresponding to call reception, message reception, schedule management, an alarm, and a morning call is preset; an alarm situation, where a bell sound of the terminal is actuated, is verified; when the alarm situation is verified, it is checked whether the current time matches the preset time; when the time matches the preset time, the portable terminal performs an alarm function in a vibration mode. Thus, user convenience is enhanced by alleviating the inconvenience caused by forcing a user to preset the alarm function whenever current position information of the portable terminal is changed. A service set identifier (SSID) of the portable terminal, which is set to a bell mode, and an SSID, which is set to current time, are used to automatically switch the portable terminal to the vibration mode when the preset time arrives. |
