The present invention relates to a water treatment method and apparatus associated with a pre-ozone treatment for removing contaminants causing taste or odor, such as geosmin and 2-methyl isoborneol (2-MIB), which are dissolved in top water byside stream injection, hydrogen peroxide, and a contact tank. In addition, the present invention relates to a technique for adding alkaline hydroxide ions to hydrogen peroxide so that hydrogen peroxide decomposition can be facillitated and reactivity with ozone can be enhanced without any adjustment of the pH of treated water. The technique can be applied to not only water supply but also industrial water and sewage disposal. |
