A combined MRI and radiation therapy system, comprising MRI imaging equipment and radiation therapy equipment. The MRI imaging equipment comprises a shielded solenoidal magnet including a number of main magnet coils 10 arranged coaxially along an axis 15, and a shielding arrangement 102 arranged coaxially with the axis 15, at a greater radius from the axis 15 than the main magnet coils 10. The radiation therapy equipment comprises a LINAC assembly 5, itself comprising a linear electron accelerator 9 arranged with an electron beam path parallel to the axis 15, a beam deflection arrangement 17 and a target 19 for generating a beam of radiation 13. The linear electron accelerator 9 is located at a position radially between the main magnet coils 10 and the shielding arrangement 102. The LINAC 5 may be surrounded by a shielding coil 102. |
