PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material testing machine for reducing power consumption by a servo amplifier or a servo motor in a non-operation time when a material test or an operation relating to the material test is not executed. SOLUTION: In a non-operation state that a device is not put in any of a material test mode in which a material test is executed, a return mode in which a cross-head is returned to a prescribed position, or a manual operation mode in which the cross-head is manually movable, it is determined whether or not a test force is equal to or less than a set value. When the test force is equal to or less than the set value, a servo lock is stopped.
