The device has an electrical circuit (4) whose opening and closing respectively corresponds to two positions of a jamb (6) and a casement (10) of a window or door (2). A detection unit detects opening or closing of the door or the window. The jamb has isolated electrically conducting outer and inner frames (12, 14), and forms a part of the circuit. The frame (14) has an electrical discontinuity or space (15) bridged by a striking plate (18) to close the circuit.
