The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for protecting privacy in a mobile terminal, which can maximize the convenience of a user when a mobile terminal is used while safely protecting the privacy information stored in the mobile terminal. The apparatus for protecting privacy in a mobile terminal comprises: a tag attached to an accessory worn by the user; and a screen lock control unit installed in the mobile terminal of the user for registering the tag and releasing a screen lock state if the tag is recognized in a screen lock state of the mobile terminal.
