Washing machine and process for treating laundry with foam

The front loading tilt axis washing machine has a rotatably supported drum (2) in a lye container (1). A lye drainage system (20) is disposed at the base of the lye container. A drive motor (14) is provided for the drum. A device (16) is provided for supplying air into the lye, where the device is switched independently of the drum. The device is an air compressor pump (17) having an outlet (18) to the lye container. An independent claim is also included for a method for the treatment of laundry with foam.
