[Class 7 (ii)] In a compression ignition engine cooling water rises from the cylinder block to the head through a port a and passes around opposite sides of the fuel injector b: it then flows through a constricted space d between a pair of valve seats, whence it passes through ports in a partition h to a passage j, extending past the valve guides to an exit at the end of the cylinder head. The valves are either both exhaust valves or an inlet and an exhaust valve.
