A valve, comprising a housing (2, 4), a preferably spherical rotating body (16) that has a through-passage (18) for a flow medium and is rotatably arranged in said housing, wherein according to the rotational angle position of the rotating body (16) about a rotational axis (22) the flow path is closed off or at least partially opened. The invention further comprises two seat rings (30, 32) arranged in the housing (2, 4) at a distance from each other, said rings resting in a sealing manner on the preferably spherical outer surface of the rotating body (16). The valve also comprises a shaft (24) which is operatively connected to the rotating body (16) and extends outwards through an opening (26) of the housing, part (46) of the shaft (24) being associated with a spherical outer surface against which a sealing element (34) rests at least partially. The invention aims at developing a simple valve design that minimizes leakage rates and achieves a long service life, while ensuring high functional reliability. For that purpose, the rotating body (16) and the shaft (24) are firmly connected to each other or are configured as one piece, the sealing element (34) in the region of the aforementioned part (46) of the shaft (24) at least partially rests against the spherical outer surface (48, 50) of the shaft part (46), and the rotating body (16) together with the shaft (24) can pivot about a pivoting axis (28) associated with the spherical outer surface (48, 50), said axis being substantially orthogonal to the rotational axis (22). |
