920,425. Cable clamps; wedge fastenings. EXPRESS LIFT CO. Ltd. March 6, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7772/61. Classes 44 and 109. [Also in Group XXX] A cable 12, Fig. 1, is wedged in a tapered body 2 by a curved pressure plate 11, the plate 11 being forced against the cable by an upward pull on a support 1 carrying a roller 7 in engagement with the sloping side 10 of the tapered body 2. The body 2, Fig. 2, is of U-shaped form to embrace the cable and has its arms formed with inwardly directed flanges against which the roller 7 acts. In a modified construction Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the support 1 is dispensed with, a flat pressure plate is carried directly by the plate 5, and the plate 5 extends out beyond the tapered body 2 so that it can be clamped directly on to a transverse support. The areas in contact with the cable 12 may be lined with material giving a high coefficient of friction. To release the clamp the body 2 is knocked upwardly. |
