The present invention relates to an image decoding method which adaptively generates reference pixels of a current block and filters the reference pixels to generate a prediction block close to an original image. According to the present invention, the image decoding method comprises following steps: an intra-prediction mode is reconstructed when an unavailable reference pixel of a current block exists; a reference pixel is generated using the available reference pixels; and whether the reference pixels of the current block are to be filtered is determined based on the reconstructed intra-prediction mode and the size of the current block. When it is determined that the reference pixels of the current block are to be filtered, a filter is selected using the size of the current block; and the difference in information between the reference pixels and the reference pixels of the current block are filtered using the selected filter. A prediction block is generated according to the reconstructed intra-prediction mode.
