The present invention provides a device and a method for sensing a moving ball, which are capable of calculating the spin of a moving ball quickly and stably even in a relatively low-performance system by extracting a feature portion such as a trademark or a logo printed on the ball itself from successive images for the moving ball acquired by an image acquisition unit realized by a predetermined camera device, calculating a spin axis, on which the moving ball is rotated, and a spin amount thereof from the extracted feature portion and, particularly, calculating the spin of the ball quickly and accurately even when only a part of the feature portion shown in the images remains due to the rotation of the ball. To this end, the present invention includes: the image acquisition unit for acquiring successive images for a ball; an image processing unit for extracting a feature portion of the ball from the successive images; and a spin calculating unit for calculating the spin of the ball by selectively performing either normal operation analysis or reverse operation analysis. |
