PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel position discrimination unit capable of discriminating the positions of wheels on the right and left sides during running, or more particularly, during acceleration and deceleration, and a tire air pressure monitoring system.SOLUTION: A control unit 11 calculates the magnitudes of amplitudes of outputs of each acceleration sensor 33 on the basis of acceleration data signals sent from the acceleration sensors 33 included in respective wheel-side units 30a to 30d. The calculated magnitudes of amplitudes are compared with one another, whereby whether the wheel-side units 30a to 30d that have originated transmission frames are disposed on the right-hand wheels of a vehicle body 4 or the left-hand wheels thereof is decided. |
