A tool or product with a multilayer coating comprises a steel substrate coated with three-layer wear-resistant coating. Thus alumina is used as the bottom layer which is applied directly to the steel base. Niobium nitride is used as the intermediate layer which is deposited on the alumina layer. The composition of titanium, hafnium, silicon and nitrogen is used as a final top layer deposited on the niobium nitride layer. |
