PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately grasp a situation of a rear seat of a vehicle on a roadway irrespective of a loading situation such as a person, equipment or the like in a car.SOLUTION: The vehicle window detection system is configured to include: a laser type displacement sensor that is provided at a road shoulder, projects a laser beam into a height direction of a roadway space from a light emitting element while scanning, receives reflection light reflected upon an object existing in the roadway space by a light reception element and measures a distance to a reflection point of the object where the laser beam is reflected; and a vehicle window detection device that detects a window of a vehicle on the basis of the distance measured by the laser type displacement sensor. The vehicle window detection device detects the window of the vehicle on the basis of a change in the distance from a position in a horizontal direction of the laser type displacement sensor to a position in a horizontal direction of the reflection point after the vehicle existing in the roadway space is detected.
