A light emitting device according to an embodiment comprises a first conductive semiconductor layer; a second conductive semiconductor layer; and an active layer between the first conductive semiconductor layer and the second semiconductor layer. The first conductive semiconductor layer includes a first layer and a second layer between the first layer and the active layer. The first layer has a plurality of recess regions at the interface between the first layer and the second layer, wherein a filling material is disposed within the recess regions. The active layer has a plurality of recess regions on one surface adjacent to the second conductive semiconductor layer. The second conductive semiconductor layer includes an insertion layer adjacent to the active layer and an electron blocking layer on the insertion layer. |
