PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye for a dye-sensitized solar cell having a color tone of blue violet to blue and having excellent photoelectric conversion characteristics, to provide a semiconductor electrode sensitized by the dye for the dye-sensitized solar cell and having an excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency, and to provide a dye-sensitized solar cell using the semiconductor electrode.SOLUTION: Provided are a dye for a dye-sensitized solar cell represented by a general formula (1), a semiconductor electrode sensitized by this dye, and a dye-sensitized solar cell using the semiconductor electrode.
