PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for inserting an advertisement into a media stream.SOLUTION: A media stream can include one or more predetermined positions for inserting an advertisement. A content access server 106 is able to insert an advertisement into one of the one or more predetermined positions in the media stream. The advertisement is selected in real time from one or more advertisements based on a first metadata relevant to the media stream, a location of the one or more predetermined positions in the media stream, and one or more parameters relating to a user.
