The present invention relates to an image recognition apparatus and a method thereof which does not require a complicated calculation process to define a search area and can improve an image processing speed to detect a target object by eliminating unnecessary candidate areas of an image, regardless of a distance between a camera and the target object, by detecting a valid size of the target object in the image.
