PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an angler to highly efficiently determine splashdown of a fishing tackle even under a condition where it is hard to visually recognize the fishing tackle in an electrically-controllable spool braking device for double-bearing reels.SOLUTION: A spool braking mechanism 25 is a device for electrically braking a spool 12. The spool braking mechanism 25 includes a spool braking unit 40, a spool control section 72, a rotation speed sensor 41, and a splashdown determination section 74. The spool braking unit 40 electrically brakes the spool 12 when a fishline is fed. The spool control section 72 electrically controls the spool braking unit 40. The rotation speed sensor 41 can detect a rotation speed of the spool 12. The splashdown determination section 74, at prescribed timing after starting casting, instantaneously brakes the spool 12 at braking force larger than the braking force at that time, and determines that the fishing tackle is in the splashdown state according to the detection result of the rotation speed after releasing the braking. |
