<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reading quality of an original in accordance with the transportation state of the original.SOLUTION: An original reading apparatus comprises: an ADF 100 for transporting the original; a lamp 119 for irradiating the original transported by the ADF 100; a CCD line sensor 126 for receiving reflected light from the original irradiated by the lamp 119; a shadow length detection unit 205 for detecting the length, along the direction of the transportation of the original being transported, of the shadow formed by the tip of the original in the direction of the transportation, from image data outputted from the CCD line sensor 126; and an image reading controller 206 for controlling a position to read the original by the CCD line sensor 126, on the basis of a detection result of the shadow length detection unit 205.</p> |
