PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing measurement test of water-absorptive expansion characteristics which can accurately evaluate the water-absorptive expansion characteristics of water-absorptive expansive clay.SOLUTION: A method for performing measurement test of water-absorptive expansion characteristics includes the steps of: binding circumference of water-absorptive expansive clay which absorbs water and expands, and at the same time, causing the water-absorptive expansive clay to absorb water while loading some weight onto the water-absorptive expansive clay; calculating density of the water-absorptive expansive clay when the water-absorptive expansive clay terminates water absorption and expansion; and determining pressure applied on the water-absorptive expansive clay as water-absorptive expansion potentiality for the calculated density. The method gradually reduces the weight loaded onto the clay, and for each grade, calculates the density of the water-absorptive expansive clay and the water-absorptive expansion potentiality for the density of the water-absorptive expansive clay when the water-absorptive expansive clay terminates water absorption and expansion, thus it is possible to efficiently and accurately evaluate the water-absorptive expansion characteristics of the water-absorptive expansive clay. |
