PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal point detection device capable of performing highly accurate and high speed focal point adjustment.SOLUTION: A focal point detection device for performing focal point detection of a phase difference system by using an imaging element having a first photoelectric conversion element and a second photoelectric conversion element sharing one micro-lens includes: image processing means for processing an image signal obtained by using the addition signal of the first photoelectric conversion element and the second photoelectric conversion element; image deviation amount calculation means for calculating an image deviation amount by performing a correlation operation using a signal value independently obtained from the first photoelectric conversion element and the second photoelectric conversion element; defocus amount calculation means for calculating a defocus amount by multiplying the image deviation amount by a coefficient; and coefficient correction means for correcting the coefficient in accordance with the signal value obtained from the first photoelectric conversion element or the second photoelectric conversion element.
