<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can easily remove jammed media and can prevent damage of a gear.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is provided with a first unit (8) and a second unit (9), and a medium conveyance path (F) is formed between them. The second unit is movable between a closed position and an open position with respect to the first unit. The first unit has a first conveyance member (15) for conveying a medium (7). The second unit has a second conveyance member (14) for conveying media. The first conveyance member has a first gear (16d). The second conveyance member has a second gear (16c) engaged with the first gear in the state that the second unit is in the closed position. The image forming apparatus is provided with a shift mechanism (25) which holds one of the first gear and the second gear at a retreat position where the one of the first and second gears is not engaged with the other gear when moving the second unit to the closed position.</p> |
