PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and a method for correcting recording-position shift, the device and method enabling appropriate correction of a recording-position shift regardless of a change in transport accuracy of a recording medium.SOLUTION: A recording device, for use in recording on a transported recording medium by using plural recording element arrays respectively having plural recording elements arranged therein and by driving, in time-division, a given number of recording elements of each of blocks produced by dividing each of the plural recording element arrays, includes: pattern recording means for recording an inspection pattern in a non-image zone of the recording medium by using the plural recording element array; positional shift detection means for detecting a mutual recording-position shift among the plural recording element arrays by measuring the inspection pattern; and correction means for applying, to a recording after recording the inspection pattern, correction for shifting the recording pixel of a number of recording elements corresponding to an amount of the recording-position shift, for each of the blocks of each of the plural recording element arrays. |
