PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress stains on a rear face of a recording medium on which a toner image is transferred.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus can form images by switching between a normal printing mode to transfer a toner image with margins left on the periphery of a recording medium and a rimless printing mode to transfer a toner image beyond the periphery of a recording medium, and includes a first cleaning member 31 that is arranged to face a secondary transfer belt 28 to remove a toner on the secondary transfer belt. A bias voltage for cleaning is applied to the first cleaning member from a bias power source 33 for first cleaning; and the bias voltage for cleaning is applied at a first bias voltage value in the normal printing mode, and at a second bias voltage value larger than the first bias voltage value in the rimless printing mode. When forming images continuously in the rimless printing mode, the image forming apparatus interrupts formation of images on the basis of predetermined conditions, and switches the bias voltage value to the first bias voltage value to perform a cleaning cycle. |
