<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder employing a method by which data is encoded being compressed relative to corresponding data before encoded.SOLUTION: An encoder includes an analysis unit for analyzing one or more portions of data to be encoded and directing the one or more portions to appropriate one or more encoding units, while the encoding units are capable of encoding the one or more portions to generate encoded data. The one or more encoding units are operable to employ mutually different encoding algorithms when encoding the one or more portions. At least one of the encoding units is operable to compute data values present in each portion received thereat, to divide the data values into at least two sets, and to compute at least one aggregate value for a predetermined set from the data values present in the predetermined set while retaining a spatial mask of the portion. Here, information representative of the spatial mask and the aggregate values computed relative to at least two data sets is included in the encoded data.</p> |
