Disclosed are a mobile terminal and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal according to the present invention includes: a touch screen; a sensing unit which senses a distance between a part of a body of a user and the mobile terminal; and a control unit which displays at least one application related to at least one data to be transmitted to a call counterpart on the screen of the call displayed on the touch screen if the distance is separated with a preset interval based on a signal sensed through the sensing unit when the call is connected. According to the present invention, a plurality of entry steps for accessing the data to be transmitted are reduced by immediately transmitting the data in a point to require a data transmission on the call and supplying the application related to the data to be transmitted on the screen of the call.
