The present invention relates to a method and a device for detecting a front vehicle by analyzing a front vehicle image acquired by a camera installed in a vehicle in order to recognize the front vehicle. Provided are the method for detecting a front vehicle and the device therefor comprising: an image input unit which receives an image from the camera installed in the vehicle; a light source extracting unit which processes the image for extracting an object related to a light source of the front vehicle; a characteristic calculating unit which calculates the characteristic of the light source; a correlation calculating unit which compares the characteristic of multiple light sources for calculating the correlation of the light sources; and a light source pairing unit which determines the pair of the light sources by using the correlation. |
