The assembly has a hydrogenerator (1) comprising a load-bearing structure (2) onto which an impeller (4) secured to a rotor driving shaft of generator (3) is mounted. The hydrogenerator has a rectifier circuit (8) for connecting the generator to an output line (50) and an exciting circuit of the generator. The circuit is connected to an excitation current regulator (6) controlled by a control unit (7). The unit is arranged such that the generator provides load current consistent with electrical load parameters based on resisting torque of the generator to limit drag of the impeller.
