Provided are an imaging apparatus and an image processing method to correct color space distortion occurring in an image sensor with a multilayer structure. The imaging apparatus comprises a first pixel, a digitizing unit, and a correcting unit. The first pixel includes a first photoelectric conversion layer and a second photoelectric conversion layer disposed below the first photoelectric conversion layer. The first photoelectric conversion layer outputs a first electric signal from the incident light including light of a first color, light of a second color, and light of a third color. The second photoelectric conversion layer outputs a second electric signal from a transmitted light which passes through the first photoelectric conversion layer. The digitizing unit digitizes the first electric signal to generate a first source data, and digitizes the second electric signal to generate a second source data. The correcting unit corrects the first source data and the second source data to generate a first corrected data corresponding to the light of the first color and a second corrected data corresponding to the light of the second color.
