The method involves filling space (13) between a set of radioactive wastes and a lid with a blocking material through an injection opening provided in a lid (20), where the lid has a discharge opening to discharge air during filling of blocking material. An annular throat (4) is provided on an upper part of an internal wall (2) of a barrel (1) below a location at which the lid is placed to allow a blocking stopper formed by a blocking material to have diameter greater than diameter of rest of the internal wall of the barrel. An independent claim is also included for a container for containing radioactive wastes.
