An electrode for a fuel cell containing silver is activated by treating with a complexing agent for silver, preferably an alkali metal cyanide solution. An oxidizing agent may also be present, e.g. in the form of benzoyl peroxide or H 2 O 2 , or by blowing in air or oxygen. The electrode containing finely-divided silver may be formed by precipitating the metal on a carbon body, or by forming a Raney silver skeleton body and sintering it. |
