A method of pouring into a continuous casting mould from a succession of ladles consists in placing, before emptying a ladle 1, a collecting device 22 leading to an energency ladle beneath the outlet of an intermediate container 7 associated with a second ladle 2, filling the intermediate container 7 and turning it with its collecting device into a position above the mould, turning the collecting device from the outlet of the intermediate container and clearing the way for the jet of metal to the mould, simultaneously placing a collecting device 21 beneath the outlet of an associated intermediate container 6 associated with the ladle 1 to divert its jet of metal into said emergency ladle and then turning the intermediate container 6 and its collecting device 21 away from the mould, the turning movements of the intermediate containers and collecting devices being synchronized so that the supply of metal to the mould is not substantially interrupted. The intermediate container and collecting devices are mounted for rotation on a spindle 10 by winches 13 and 14. In a modification, Fig. 5, each intermediate container 34, 35 and associated collecting device 41, 42 is mounted for rotation on a pillar 36, 37, supported on a truck 38, 39 movable on rails 40. |
