A face recognition apparatus according to the present invention includes an image acquisition part for acquiring an image; a face image extraction part for extracting a face image included in the acquired image; a quality judgment part for judging whether the extracted face image satisfies prescribed quality in order to determine whether to use the extracted face image or not; and a control part for controlling the extracted face image to be used for face recognition in case the extracted face image satisfies the prescribed quality. Therefore, the present invention can provide a face recognition apparatus with improved face recognition accuracy, by performing face recognition as to a face image which satisfies prescribed quality.
