The piston (1) has a central cavity i.e. bowl (2), for combusting fuel. A lip (3) is arranged at upper periphery of the bowl. An upper surface comprises a castor (14) i.e. plane, arranged between the lip and an external edge. A space is formed between the castor and a cylinder head in a castor zone (Z'). The castor is inclined in a direction of the bottom of the bowl from the external edge towards the lip so as to create air mixture zone.
